Intent of These Questions

  • 1.These questions are intended for periodic one-on-one conversations between a learner and their mentor or supervisor, organized by theme.
  • 2.They are meant to prompt genuine reflection, not to be answered mechanically in writing.

On Stewardship and Ownership

  • 1.What is the most important thing you are currently a steward of, and how would you know if you were caring for it well?
  • 2.Where have you recently caught yourself doing the minimum rather than genuinely caring for something entrusted to you?
  • 3.What is one stewardship you would like more responsibility for, and what would need to be true for that to happen?
B.

On Requirements and Discovery

  • 1.Describe a recent conversation where you had to separate a stated request from the underlying need. How did you know the difference?
  • 2.When was the last time you asked a follow-up question that changed the outcome of a conversation?
  • 3.What is a requirement you documented that you are least confident is accurate, and what would it take to become confident in it?

On Documentation and Communication

  • 1.If you were unexpectedly unavailable for two weeks, what documentation would a colleague struggle to find or understand?
  • 2.What is a piece of your own documentation you have not revisited in a while that might now be out of date?

On Testing, Escalation, and Judgment

  • 1.Describe a recent judgment call you made about severity or priority. How confident are you in that call now, looking back?
  • 2.What is a time you escalated something that, in hindsight, you could have assessed further yourself first?
  • 3.What is a time you should have escalated something sooner than you did?

  • 1.What is the clearest piece of evidence you have that your judgment has grown since starting this curriculum?
