Module 2 - OFA 1 Role Definition and the Six Core Behaviors

Step 3 of 5

Core Behaviors

I.

Foundational behavior — terminology and process fluency

A.

Learns OFA Terminology and Processes

An OFA 1 actively builds fluency in OFA vocabulary and in the standard processes used by their team:

  • 1.How requirements are captured
  • 2.How testing is coordinated
  • 3.How issues are escalated

This is treated as ongoing work, not a one-time orientation task.

II.

delivery lifecycle behaviors

A.

Contributes to Requirements Documentation

An OFA 1 helps capture and document requirements under the direction of another OFA or supervisor, without being expected to run the requirements process themselves:

  • 1.Taking notes
  • 2.Drafting sections
  • 3.Asking clarifying questions
B.

Maintains Notes, Action Items, and Artifacts

  • 1.Primary Stewardship of OFA 1 — Accuracy and Findability of Assigned Artifacts:
  • a.Meeting notes
  • b.Action item trackers
  • c.Similar working documents
C.

Supports Testing and Validation Activities

  • 1.An OFA 1 helps execute test cases.
  • 2.They record results accurately.
  • 3.They flag discrepancies to a more senior team member rather than resolving them independently.
D.

Supports the Launch of Fundamental Solutions

An OFA 1 helps initiate the launch of fundamental, foundational-scope solutions once design and development are complete:

  • 1.Confirming, under guidance, that what was actually built and tested matches what was documented as the requirement
  • 2.Helping run basic launch-readiness checks
  • 3.Helping communicate the launch clearly to the people it affects
  • 4.This behavior connects the requirements work of Module 4 and the testing work of Module 7 to the point where a solution actually goes live.
  • 5.Module 8 develops it in full.
III.

the working relationship — guidance and judgment

A.

Works Under Direct Guidance

  • 1.An OFA 1 checks in regularly.
  • 2.They ask before making judgment calls on ambiguous items.
  • 3.They treat guidance-seeking as a sign of good judgment rather than a weakness.
  • 4.This behavior is often the least understood of the six.
  • 5.Module 9 is devoted entirely to building real skill in it.
